About the author

Scott A. Rusinko was born in Richmond, CA, and moved to Eatonville, Washington, at a young age. Growing up in the quaint town of Eatonville, Scott graduated from Eatonville High School in 1984. His journey into adulthood began early as he signed up for the Navy’s delayed entry program at 17. Scott’s first command was aboard the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) where the iconic movie “Top Gun” was filmed. His naval career took him to VP-31 Squadron in Mountain View, California, where he met his lovely wife Lisa, to whom he has been married for over 30 years. Scott’s final active duty station was the USS California (CGN-36) in Bremerton, Washington.

Over the next 12 years, Scott served in the Navy Reserves and Army National Guard, ultimately retiring from the Air Force Reserve at McChord Air Force Base, now part of JBLM, in June 2006. Scott now resides in Tacoma, WA, with his wife and children, filling his days with writing poetry. His poetry, deeply influenced by his life’s journey and the wisdom imparted by his late grandmother Wanda Rusinko, explores a vast array of human emotions and experiences. Grandma Wanda, who taught him that anything is possible and to never give up, remains a guiding force in his life.
